As President Obama takes the oath of office, what are you hopes and prayers for his time in office. Share your thought on our children, our families, our communities and our country as a whole.
Wow racist at heart !!! would have to say that you voted for Obama purley on the fact that he was black, which means your no better than the slave masters you look down on! Its a shame and shame on you!
Is this a real person? I looked for a profile and couldn't find one. Racism is defined, my friend, as prejudice plus power. Until a black man was elected President, we had no real power in this country. We only have one African-American in the Senate! And to say that the slaves are no better than their slavemaster is quite offensive. When did a slave ever rip a slavemaster's child from her arms? Did slaves prevent slavemasters from getting married, worshipping, or even keeping their names, culture, and religion? I appreciate your frustration that many blacks only voted for President Obama and I share it, but white people have been voting for white people because they white for years. Since whites were the ones with the power, that was racism. Shame on you for not getting your facts straight!
You know it's a shame but it seems a lot of people did, they voted for our new pres simply because he was black. Not to say to some that is not a valid reason. I voted for him because he i more then just African American, he reps almost every race, have you read his book "dreams of my father"? wow it is a great book.
Although I supported Hillary Clinton in the primaries and voted for Cynthia McKinney for President, I wish our new President well and also pray for his safety and the safety of his family. I only wish he had more experience and had spent more time acquiring the skills needed to tackle the problems he's facing before running for the highest office in the land. Toledo elected its first black mayor a few years ago and, although he did a great job in my opinion, he wasn't able to solve all of the city's problems created by the previous administration during one term. He didn't get a second one. The mayor who got us in the mess we're in was re-elected and continues to makes a mess of things. I hope this doesn't happen to President Obama, but I really don't think he can deliver on his promises of changing things in Washington and feel that all he really has given the American people is false hope. I know I'm in the minority, but I really feel that it was more important for us to have an experienced person with the skills to do the job in the White House right now than it was to have a black President. Unfortunately, the way the media and those who own the big media outfits run Presidential politics in this country, there really weren't too many people with the level of experience and skill needed to do the job. The only one really that has both is the Vice-President, Joe Biden. But, due to the media's focus on personality and America's love affair with charismactic personalities, the person most qualified to tackle the problems left "doubled and wrapped in a great big bow" never had a chance! I believe in affirmative action, but I don't believe in hiring the first black person who applies for a job just because he or she is black. I understand why so many black people were excited about the prospect of having a black man in the White House. It is historical and it is definitelly exciting. But a wise older man said to me when I got excited about having a black mayor a few years ago, "The white folks made the mess and I think they ought to have to clean it up!" Well, black folks have been cleaning white folks' messes up since slavery, so maybe, hopefully (audacious or not), President Obama will find the fortitude and the spirtiual guidance he's going to need to do the job! I pray that he does because I really believe he'll only get one chance - remember how popular George Bush was once; Americans are fickle and those we love today, we repudiate tomorrow. President Obama did make some good cabinet choices - tax problems notwithstanding - and he has a great helpmeet in Michelle (whether you like her clothes or not). The future of this country right now depends on the President and those he's appointed to work with him, so God be with them and guide them to do what's best for the country. And next time we support a black man or woman for President, we really need to make sure it's not during a time of economic crisis or, if it is, find someone with the skill and experience to handle the crisis. Can you imagine what would have happened on the Hudson River if the pilot had not had the experience and training to land that plane safely on the water? We're on a plane headed for the Potomac, America, and we need a miracle - expect one and God will bring it!
