I love Spring. The flowers, warmer weather, having dinner under the stars but what I love most about Spring is the ability to try new things with my hair and make-up.
If you like red lips or think your eyes are your best asset, this beatuy report has something for you, straight from the runways of some of my favorite designers, this season will have you looking like a true fashionista.
Take a Walk on the Dark Side:
Major liner was a major player at shows such as Stella McCartney and Narciso Rodriguez. The best way to wear this perennial favorite is to keep the rest of the make-up very simple with a natural blush and lips.

To achieve this look, try Mac eye kohl in smolder $13.50, it gives eyes a soft but sexy line that is easy to play with. Dior Style Liner in Noir Black $31.00 is a rich and creamy liner created especially for the runway. It is guaranteed to give you the femme fatale look. Are you new to liner but want to try one of the season's hottest trends? Go for CoverGirl Perfect Point Plus $5.99. Gives you a perfect line every time.
Ruby Red Lip

If you think that black girls don't look good in red lipstick, think again! Wheater matte or gloss, cherry or crimson, red looks great on African American women and it made quite a statement at shows like Nina Ricci and Proenza Schouler. To get the look of the models at the shows, try L'Oreal Paris HIP Shine Stuck Liquid Lipcolor in Turbulent $12. Tried red in the past and still don't think it's for you? Try CK's Delicious Luxury Lipstick in Ruby Red $18, this shade looks great on almost every skin tone. However, if you aren't sure that red is right for you, try Clinique Long Lasting Glosswear SPF 15 in Juicy Apple $14. This shade is both bright and translucent making red easy to wear. A great shade for my darker sisters is Nars Lip Lacquer in Diabalo $24.
Think Peach

When it comes to blush, peach is the color of the season and the great part is it is easy to wear. Peach unlike pink gives your complexion a pretty natural beach glow. However, peach blush contains strong pigments so apply with a light hand right below your apples. If you want to look like you just stepped off the runway, try Givenchy Sari Glow Iridescent Blush $42. Its terracotta texture is silky soft with iridescent mother of pearls that add a gleaming pop of color to the skin. If you want to try one of the season hottest trends but you are looking for a budget friendly option try, Baby Phat St. Barths Peach Blush $14. Its light color will give you a perfectly natural finish and the silky soft formula glides on easily and evenly, making it easy for anyone to wear. A personal favorite of mine is Mac Power Blush in Style $18. This coral-peach blush has gold pearls which looks great on African American skin.
Head Turner

Hair takes center stage this season with so many hair accessories that choosing one may be hard to do! Whether you like flower handbands like the one featured above from the Diane Von Furstenberg Spring show or you want to add sparkle like the models at Dolce & Gabbana, there is something for you this season. Wearing hair accessories is a great way to control your hair while adding a touch of personal style. Another great reason to invest in hair accessories is you can re-vamp your look without breaking the bank. You will be able to find many of the looks featured on the runway for less. One of my favorite sites for inspiration is
jenniferbehr.com. There you will find the best this season has to offer.
As always, keeping you looking your best....
